The Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU) and the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA) have formed a research partnership that, amongst other things, intends to increase research capacity related to the insurance sector. We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced black (i.e. African, Coloured, Indian) South Africans to work together with the DPRU team of researchers across a range of research projects related to skills and skills development, career paths, the impact of training investments, and job quality in the insurance sector.

We are looking to make appointments on either of two “tracks”—a PhD track or a Master’s track—depending on your qualification. There are two Junior Research Fellow positions available, that are to start as soon as possible and will run until the end of March 2022.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting original empirical research related to skills development in the South African insurance sector as part of a team of researchers;
  • Collating and collecting relevant quantitative and qualitative data for analysis;
  • Report writing; and
  • Presenting research findings.

The annual cost of employment is between R470 033 and R611 940, depending on qualifications and experience.
